Pouring Hair, 2022
For some reason, I’ve always been fascinated by different hairstyles--frequently changing my own in the real and virtual worlds alike. But throughout history, hair has served as a symbol of rebellion, resistance, and resilience. From Samson’s hair containing the essence of his strength to the counter cultural movements of the 60 & 70s, where facial hair and long tresses became a challenge to social norms. Throughout our development, if we want to let the world know we’ve changed, we often change our hair—and we can do this because it’s always growing, day in and day out. I wanted to harness these associations—strength, growth, resilience, rebellion-as a metaphor for the process of maturation itself. If childhood is a cup that gradually fills, one day it will overflow. Just as hair spills over our necks and shoulders, here, it spills out of the glass-separate but connected, a continuous record of our growth even as we outgrow various stages of our lives. I used a variety of mediums, including acrylic paint, watercolor, and felt tip markers to emulate the coarse strands of hair.

Fantasy Land, 2022
My artwork was inspired by fantasy paintings. I wanted to create a mystical and magical feeling, so I decided to use colors that are not often seen in nature. The pink and purple tree if the focal point, and the clouds make it seem really magical. The dark navy border gives off a feeling of someone looking through something and seeing the magical land. I feel like it is a representation of escaping from reality into a beautiful new world.

Eternal Springtime, 2022
This painting is inspired by an old photo of the baby me exploring my neighborhood. Blue skies, blooming flowers, and dewy grass present bountiful wonder to young minds. The beauty of an ordinary day is a fleeting moment. Early memories of simple joy are so easily forgotten but become vivid when preserved in an image.

My Own Space, 2022
The most beautiful thing in life to me is having my very own special place where I get to sew and be creative. I find that when I am feeling artistic, I have all the materials I need to create what I want without any pressure or limitations set by others.

Soaring Towards Peace, 2022
In today’s world there are so many disasters, wars, pandemics, and politics. It seems as though society is doomed. The future seems bleak. But we can change that future, sculpt it into a masterpiece of peace and unity.

Sunrise over the Beach, 2022
With this piece, I wanted to capture the beauty of a sunrise, how it colors the clouds, the water, and even the rocks with its light. The sun is not yet blazing or high in the sky, but everything is still surrounded in its glow.

Power in Friendship, 2022
I chose to show friendship to display the "most beautiful thing in life". I portrayed four different people of different genders, coming from various places, who have reached the top of a hill together, gazing out at the sunset. My work shows the beauty in the power of diversity and friendship; we truly succeed when we all get to the top of the hill.

The Beauty of Science, 2022
The beauty of the world is the beauty of science because science is what created our world. Everything that we do in our everyday lives is linked to discoveries in science, and all the people who have restlessly researched and increased our society's knowledge and understanding. Astronomy, biology, chemistry, psychology, medicine, geology, and so many more fields of science contributed so much, and they deserve appreciation. Today, science is still as important as ever, if not more than before, and it is what keeps everyone safe and informed.

Secure in Mother's Love, 2022
A baby swan sleeping peacefully in its mother's embrace reflects the feeling of security, love, and the confidence in protection. A mom will always be there to love and support, to care and nourish unconditionally. All moms whether human or in the animal world work to provide the best for their babies. I pray and wish every child in this world experiences this love as a steppingstone for a better future.
